How to Defend Your Land in Empire Tap: Defence, Shields, Alerts and Revenge
▶ Play Empire TapIn Empire Tap, the world never sleeps. While you are at work, at school or asleep, other commanders are tapping on the map, and some of them are looking at your borders. Losing a land you built tap by tap hurts, but most losses can be avoided. This guide explains how attacks work and how to make your lands too expensive to take.
How attacks work
A player can only attack your land when one of their lands touches it. They then tap your land to drain it, ten square metres at a time. The number of taps they need for each ten square metres is your land's defence. A land that is drained to zero is wiped off the map. So the whole game of defence is simple: make every ten square metres cost as many taps as possible, and be ready to react.
Raise your defence where it matters
Switch to "more strength" and every twenty taps on your land add one point of defence instead of growing it. A new land starts with a modest defence, but it can climb very high. You do not need to fortify everything: focus on the lands that touch enemies. A border land with high defence makes attackers waste minutes for a few square metres, and most of them will look for an easier target.
Use shields at the right time
A shield from the shop costs 150 gold and protects one land completely for an hour. It is the perfect answer when a war starts and you have to leave, or when a much stronger empire has just reached your border. Keep enough gold for a shield at all times, finish your daily missions to earn it, and place it on the land that is under the heaviest attack.
Stay informed with alerts
Every attack on your lands is recorded. When you come back, the alerts panel tells you who attacked, which land and how much was drained, and a badge shows how many attacks you missed. Turn on notifications and Empire Tap will warn you on your phone the moment your land is under attack, even when the game is closed, so you can come back and fight before it is too late.
Strike back and build alliances
Next to each alert there is a revenge button that flies you straight to the attacker's land. If it touches yours, you can drain it right away and show that your borders are not free. For the long run, merge your lands into one compact kingdom with short borders, and join a clan: clanmates can never attack each other, so friends on your borders are friends you never have to watch.
